Studio 101 || Single-Light Portraits

Posted in Workshops

workshops studio 101RWP-ST101: Okay...You've got a pretty good handle on how your camera works, exposure, shutter-speed, aperture, ISO, etc.  You've been shooting a lot of "natural light" or "on camera flash" portraits and you're ready to be slightly more intentional about your lighting.  This workshop is for you.  We'll discuss all of the aspects of light (direction, intensity, color and quality), why each is important to your photography and how they are controlled.  We'll only have a little simple math, then a hands-on introduction to industry-standard studio/lighting equipment, modifiers, remotes and a slew of other "goodies."  Then, I'll teach you the specifics of the top-two lighting setups/strategies for single light portraiture.  As practice, you'll make a portrait of one of our staff models.  We'll even discuss a few other important details such as how to get the sharpest images from any lens!  (NOTE: If you're pretty confortable with light already, check out Studio 102!)
